Get Alicia Vikander’s Stunning Met Gala Ponytail NOW!

June 22, 2010

Everybody’s talking about Met Gala lately. How couldn’t we be involved in conversations about it given the many celebs that paraded and showed off amazing maned? Some were flat and somewhat blah, but others were certainly turning heads. Like Alicia Vikander’s Met Gala hair. If anything, it was certainly not boring! But, today, we won’t be extolling her gorgeous hairstyle. We’ll be giving you the exact steps to give your average ponytail some sultry edge! And, for those with short hair that still want to wear that fab style, there is nothing better than adding Indian Remy hair extensions to help complete the look!

According to celeb hairstylists, what you wear determines your hairdo. They always take a sneak peak of the dress the A-list is going to wear and draw inspiration from it. However, a carefree braided ponytail is suitable for all occasions and here’s how to make it:

1. Apply bounce mousse to damp hair starting at the roots and working your way to the ends. Blow dry using your fingers to give max texture and volume to your hair.

2. Once the hair is dry, make a center part and start braiding a section on each side of the part. Just make sure the braid is not close to the face.

3. Rake back the hair into a ponytail (use your fingers again, we don’t need it to be super sophisticated). Secure at the crown with an elastic band. The more romantic ones can also add a flower or fancy accessory with strasses for added sparkle!

4. Take a small section under the ponytail and wrap it around the base of the ponytail after you tease it a bit and spray it. Secure with a bobby pin.

5. Apply some more mousse to give some extra texture (scrunch the mousse into the ponytail). Enjoy your red-carpet-ready (and not only!) hairstyle!

Note: Needless to say, 18-inch (or longer) Indian virgin hair is a valuable tool to add length and volume and nail this hairstyle! To be able to maintain your extensions’ wonderful looks for long, though, here are some must-know tips to keep them in mint condition and healthy-looking!

Tip #1: Wash your Clip-ins often

Wash your extensions just like you do with your normal hair, experts advice. If you leave your Remy hair unwashed for long, they will start looking dingy. Imagine all the product build-up that would be accumulated! So, every 3-4 uses, wash with a light (always sulfate-free) cleansing shampoo. Baby shampoo can also be used (more must-have products if you wear hair extensions here). Follow with a light conditioner.

Tip #2: Don’t Rush Air-Dry

When it comes to Remy hair extensions, the less product you use, the fresher the hair will remain, and the more you help the extensions to last. So, no blow-dry serums or other styling products to help drying.

Tip #3: Dry Properly

Always start drying the area by the clips. Once done, secure the top of the clips in a drawer and let the rest of the hair hanging down (and, of course, out of the drawer!). This will help you blow dry the extensions and use a brush at the same time without having to hold the strands with one hand and struggle with the brush and blow dryer with the other!

Tip #4: Store Properly

Try to hang the extensions from a part hanger when you are not using them. Put the hanger in the closet and make sure the hair doesn’t get dirty or crushed.
