How To Style Hair Extensions: Fishtail, Messy Bun, and Top-knot!

One of the best things about having Remy hair extensions is that you can do so many hairdos quite effortlessly and always look perfect and glam! Whether you have chosen clip-in virgin hair or any other type of extensions, one thing is for sure: your hair looks amazingly voluminous, long, and shiny! So, how about making a fishtail braid, a funky bun, and a top-knot this week to amaze the crowds? The steps are very simple and the final result? Stunning!

1. Fishtail

It is a very popular hairstyle the last few years and it seems that it will be a women’s favorite for much longer. It is a hairstyle that can be easily worn from day, with your jeans and plain t-shirt, to evenings out with a lovely cocktail dress. It is also an excellent candidate for when you have a fancy occasion. You just add some flowers or a sparkly hair accessory and you are good to go!

To achieve this style, straighten your hair (both natural and Remy hair) and section the hair in two. Then take small sections of the hair from each side and pull it across different sides, like you would do with a normal braid, only this time you don’t divide the hair into three sections and cross it together, but two! The secret is to fix the fishtail casual and loose and not too tight. Spray the braid with some hairstyle or use a little bit of mousse or gel to keep the texture.

A Fishtail braid can be done either in the back or on the side (sitting on your shoulder). If you are making your own hairdo, doing it on the back will be challenging, but the side version is easily achievable! And, if it gets a bit messier (see the video below) than what you wanted it, no worries. It just takes a bit practice. After a couple of times, you will get the hang of it for sure! Also, you can fix it halfway or do it all the way down.

Tip: For a beautiful curl-up, do the fishtail braid on damp hair and then blow dry in a plait.

2. The messy bun

Start by doing a ponytail, either high or low you choose, depending on the occasion, outfit or even mood! You just make sure the Indian Remy hair is fully covered and then brush and spray the hair with hairspray. Cover the hair from all sides. From that point on, you are free to use your creativity and imagination and twist and turn in any direction you feel like it. This video will show you how to make a messy bun in 60 seconds!

3. Top-not

A very casual, yet very appealing, style, especially when you want to show off your lovely shoulders or when you are planning to wear something that is very open in the neck area. For that style, the hair has to be long so your virgin Remy hair extensions (why we insist on virgin Indian Remy hair?) has to be, at least, 18 inches. What you want to do is make a knot by twisting the hair at the bottom and then taking taking little grips of hair again to fix it all the way. The video below will show you how easy it is to make a top-knot in a few minutes!

And, if you have short hair and wear extensions, here are some amazing hairstyles you can do and look staggering! Or you can check out tons of ways to style your hair with hair extensions (such as lush braided ponytail and so many more)!
