Hair extensions have that nasty reputation for being damaging and high-maintenance. Plus, many people consider wearing Remy hair extensions an extravagance that is most suited for the elite walking on the red carpet. Today, you will find out that there is not a spec of truth in these claims. Hair extensions give longer, shinier, and thicker hair that not only help you look amazing but also make you exude confidence and glam!
Myth #1: Remy Hair looks fake.
BUSTED, because:
Clip-in extensions look like your natural hair. Just a simple test will convince you. Wear them the right way and see if anyone will believe you will wear extensions! The bonds in tape-in Indian hair extensions lie totally flat and cause no discomfort whatsoever. So, chances are you will probably forget about them, at least, until you catch a glimpse of your gorgeous, thick ponytail in the mirror!
The only thing you need to keep in mind is that you have to match hair thickness, texture, color and density to achieve a seamless look. The hair has to be 100% virgin Indian Remy hair, which means that the hair cuticle is facing the same direction and is, of course, intact. That will allow you to dry, iron and style the extensions as you would do with your natural hair without being afraid it will mat or tangle.
Myth #2: Getting the extensions taken out and put in is difficult.
BUSTED, because:
You will need to dedicate the time you would do with having highlights, which is about an hour (90 mins tops) for the whole head. The removal is even faster. For example, for tape-in extensions, the stylist loosens the adhesive by drenching the tape bonds in a solute. Then, the extensions are easily wiggled off. You can even do it at home, as long as you follow removal and reapplication instructions.

Myth #3: Indian virgin hair extensions are difficult to care for.
BUSTED, because:
You treat your extensions as you do with your natural hair. This means you wash, blow-dry, braid, scrunch and flatiron them easily and effortlessly, although you do need to be gentle with them so you can have them for as long as possible. That said, avoid combing through the hair to detangle when wet. Both your own hair and extensions are more fragile then. Also, better sleep with your hair in loose braid to prevent tangling while you are sleeping. Plus, you will wake up with lovely waves!
Myth #4: Remy hair extensions cause damage.
BUSTED, because:
If you apply them correctly (or have a knowledgeable stylist apply them for you) and treat your extensions with proper care there is no chance in the world you will end up with any damage or breakage. In fact, many women turn to extensions after they had damage caused by coloring their hair and want to try growing it again. After a while, their damaged natural hair looked and felt as healthy as it did before the coloring-related damage.
The only myth, perhaps, not busted is that hair extensions are addicting! Maybe it is because it is not a myth, but 100% true!
