You know that feeling you get leaving the salon after a fresh install knowing your new hair is the business, feeling like there is no problem in the world you can not solve!? How do you know when it is time to hit the salon and get that feeling all over again? Whether your hair is long, short, curly, kinky black or blonde there comes a time in every girl’s life when it is absolutely necessary to hit the salon for a fresh reinstall. Here are some key tell tale signs that let you know it is time to re energize that hair!
Sign 1 – Your braids are no longer attached neatly to your scalp. Let’s face is we are alive and our hair grows and as the hair grows the braids holding the hair will loosen and not appear as neat as it did on the first day or during the first month. Nobody likes a dangling weave or so much new growth that our own natural hair starts to make its own rows of locs amongst the weave. While wearing your weave it is important to take great care of the natural hair below so that it can remain strong during the style. Having loose natural hair will only weaken the hair shaft causing breakage and more damage than anyone could desire. So when those braids start to loosen dramatically it is time to head to the salon for a do over.
Sign 2 – Similar to reason one your hair has out grown your leave out portion. Essentially what happens is your leave out portion should be covering the tracks you have to make the hair seem more natural and flawless. So for instance if the hair on the tracks appears to be growing faster than the portion of hair left out, then it will have a heck of a time doing the job of cover-up. Don’t resort to more gel or more pins that will just lead to frustration and an unnatural appearance. Just bite the bullet; it is time for a do over.
Sign 3 –This leads me to your semi permanent weave can move! Have you ever seen someone itch there head so much that it appears that the entire weave application has a life of its own moving around and appearing wiggy? If you wanted a wig you would have bought one! If your weave moves and the itch is unbearable don’t suffer through it, it is time for a do over.
Sign 4 – Lack luster weave, frankly if you leave your weave in too long don’t expect it to go the extra mile for you. When it’s done its done, you will notice that the tracks begin to shed, curl patterns become looser , the hair loses its shine and volume, just not a good look. With extra care and TLC you can ensure that a weave remains its bouncy shiny self, however after multiple washes, product use and other environmental factors the weave will not continue to cooperate making your efforts appear effortless. Side note: do not confuse this with hair that is not of the best quality! Quality hair can last you awhile with the proper care, with that said if you did purchase quality hair and after a while you notice it losing its mojo, it is time for a do over.
