How To Copy Teyana Taylors Hair, Weave Style!

Tetyana Taylor big kinky curly hairTetyana Taylor has fabulous hair which may or may not be a weave. There has been a lot of debate and I’ve heard convincing arguments from both sides so I will hold off on an opinion but either way she looks great.

With more and more women releasing themselves from relaxers, natural hair has become very trendy. But even if you are not interested in giving up your relaxed hair, you can still get the natural look with extensions! Here’s how to get Tetyana’s big hair whether you are relaxed or natural!

Hair needed: 2-3 packs of 20 inch kinky curly extensions you can go a bit shorter or longer than this depending on your height.

1. Start off with some good quality kinky curly hair. While most kinky curly weaves are usually processed to mimic natural curls, make sure that the hair has been processed from remy quality Indian hair. This ensures that cuticles are intact and following the same direction so tangling is minimized as a result.

2. As always start with your own hair washed and deep conditioned. You want your to have plenty of moisture in your own strands before you install the weave.

3. Separate a 1 1/2 inch section of hair at the top front of your head to allow you to create a middle part. Also leave out a half inch section around the sides of your hairline and clip out of the way while you braid down the rest of your hair. Some ladies prefer braiding the hair straight back and some prefer the circular method, whichever braiding pattern you choose make sure that your base is flat. A hair net is optional because with curly extensions, track placement is not as important as with straight extensions.

4. Whether you are natural or relaxed the blending technique is similar. Apply either a little holding gel or styling mouse to the leave out hair and comb through to evenly distribute. Braid the leave out hair in a continuous cornrow and curl the end of the braid with a perm rod to keep the curl pattern consistent throughout. Don’t over-wet the hair because you want the curls to be dry and set by the time you are done sewing in your extensions.

5. Starting from the nape sew in the tracks horizontally being pretty sparse to begin with. The nape is where extensions tend to tangle and matt easily so by limiting the amount of hair near your nape, you are limiting the chances of tangles.

6. Once you get to the crown start being more generous with the amount of extension hair you use. I sometimes double the tracks on the same braid to get just the right amount of volume.

7.  Finish sewing in your extensions getting as close as you can to your leave out hair.

8. Now on to the exciting part, styling! Wet the kinky curly extensions thoroughly to activate the curl pattern without getting your leave out hair wet. A spray bottle is best for this. Don’t apply any product to the hair and avoid combing because this creates frizz. You will notice that the hair is very curly and lays pretty flat while wet but things will change!

9. Using a blow dryer with a diffuser attachment dry the extensions thoroughly on a warm setting. Turn your head upside down and allow the warm air to dry the hair. The curls will dry wonderfully voluminous .

10. When your leave out hair is completely dry release it from the cornrow and arrange the curls to cover the visible tracks at the top and sides. Do not separate your curls too much to avoid frizzing. The look is complete!

To keep the style, ‘pineapple’ your hair at night. ‘Pineapple-ing’ is simply tying your hair at the very top of you head with a ponytail holder (not too tight) to save the curls. No need to re braid your leave out until you are ready to wash your extensions.
