Superfoods for Super Healthy Locks!

January 31, 2015

It goes without a saying that Remy hair extensions is a valuable tool in every woman’s “beauty armory”. And, the truth is that with proper care, we can enjoy the most trendy and face-fitting hairstyles simply by using carefully selected Indian virgin hair extensions that blend with our natural hair seamlessly and create stunning looks like the ones we see fashioned from red carpet celebs! But, what happens when our own hair lack shine and volume, and look lifeless and unhealthy? Here are some foods that has been evidenced to help the hair grow healthy with all the nutrients it needs to prevent some of the most common issues most ladies face!

1. Salmon (Extra Shine)

Salmon, alongside mackerel and sardines are fish packed with omega-3 fatty acids that the body can’t make by itself. Besides enforcing our immune, they also help the hair grow and keep it full and shiny.

2. Greek Yogurt (Boost Growth)

Thanks to its proteins and precious vitamin B5, Greek yogurt nourishes the locks and helps with hair growth and blood flow to the scalp. It is also found that vitamin B5 can even help prevent hair thinning and loss. No wonder many hair and skincare products contain pantothenic acid (vitamin B5) as an ingredient!

3. Spinach (Fight Brittle Hair)

With tons of vitamin A, vitamin C, folate, B carotene, and iron, this dark green leafy vegetable provides the best means for a healthy scalp and tresses. All these nutrients combined keep the hair perfectly moisturized; thus, prevent breakage!

Another great superfood that prevents breakage is guava. A single cup of this tropical fruit has 4X the minimum daily recommended amount of hair-fortifying vitamin C! Bingo!

4. Iron-Fortified Products (Prevent Hair Loss)

One of the reasons for hair loss is lack of iron. Iron-fortified cereal, pastas, grains, lentils, and soybeans, as well as beef (particularly liver) and shellfish will give you lots of iron to prevent hair loss.

5. Lean Meat (Fight Hair Thinning)

When you don’t consume enough protein, your body is forced to put some of its functions to sleep. Hair growth is one of them. This means that older hair fall out as the normally do but no new hair grows to balance the loss. Lean options like turkey and chicken (preferably organic) will provide your body with the much-needed protein. Plus, they have less saturated fat than pork and beef.

6. Sweet Potatoes (Fight Dull Hair)

Much is said and written about sweet potatoes’ remarkable health benefits lately. They are filled with B carotene (also found in orange veggies, such as pumpkin, mangoes, and carrots), an antioxidant that helps protect against dull and dry hair, among others. It also encourages the production of sebum, which keeps the hair from drying out.

Other foods that stimulate blood flow to promote hair growth and fullness

1. Eggs Rich in vitamin B (biotin) to encourage hair growth and strengthen not only the hair but also brittle fingernails, eggs should be part of everyone’s diet.

2. Oysters – Lack of zinc is another reason why we loose hair at faster paces. Oysters come loaded with zinc (also crab, beef, fortified cereal, and lobster)and provide the cells responsible for building hair to do their job the best possible way.

3. Cinnamon – Sprinkle cinnamon on your toast, morning coffee or bowl of oatmeal. It will help with circulation and bring nutrients and oxygen to the hair follicles.

Including the right foods in your diet will allow you to enjoy healthy-looking (and feeling) hair and create the perfect base for practically any hairstyle you desire with your favorite Remy hair extensions. Looking stunning has never been so easy, right?
