Dutch Braid With Flower Detail, Summer Hairstyle With Extensions

Dutch Braid With Flower Details, Summer Hairstyle With ExtensionsStyles with braids just scream of warmer weather and a happier carefree style of living. Maybe it’s just me but I also think they make you feel younger. We’ve probably all got memories of braided hair when we were children right?

If you have thin hair dutch braids are great because they make the braid appear thicker hence disguising the problem. This style can be done on relaxed hair as an easy spring or summer do or you can achieve it with your hair extensions too. This style is great for school or even a day at the beach. If you turn the loose hair into a low bun, you can easily turn this do into a more formal evening style. Here’s how to recreate it with sew in extensions:

Hair needed: 1 pack 14 inch and 1 pack 16 inch hair extensions. This style will work on many different hair textures, if you go for kinky curly texture, choose longer extensions so that the hair falls past your shoulders, but feel free to experiemnt!

1. Create a flat braiding pattern leaving out a horseshoe section at the front for a side or center part. If you are natural, it will be a good idea to blow out your hair to make your braids smaller and reduce the volume. Nobody likes a lumpy weave!

2. Sew in the weave starting at the back and working your way up. Apply the weave evenly but if you are using curly hair, avoid adding too much hair in the nape area to reduce the potential for tangling.

3. Don’t add too much volume near the top. With this style too much volume will mean that the tracks will show through your leave out.

4. Once your extensions are installed blend your leave out hair with the extensions. If your weave is straight then flat iron the leave out and if it’s kinky curly you can braid out your leave out hair using this method to blend with your weave.

5. Begin braiding from the front near your part incorporating your hair with the hair extensions as you go. You want to braid while adding hair from the top of the braid but not adding any from the bottom. Once you get to the middle of your head just continue braiding without picking up any more hair for a couple of inches and secure with a hair elastic. See the video below for a demonstration of how to create the braid.

6. Once you have completed one side repeat the same on the other side and secure both braids together with another hair elastic.

7. You can accessorize with a flower clip or bow and your style is ready!

This look can also be recreated easily using clip in hair extensions!

To save this style all you need to do is remove the flower clip and tie your hair into a low ponytail. Don’t tie it too tight to avoid leaving a dent in your hair. Cover your hair with a satin scarf or bonnet for the night.

In the morning, remove the ponytail holder and the style will look as good as the day before!
