Summer Looks – Curly Hairstyles Part 2

January 2, 2017

Further to the first article where we looked at deep wavy and kinky curly hairdo’s, with this article we look at the more elegant and formal side of curly extensions. Updo’s look fabulous with any curly hair so feel free to try the style with any curly texture.

This style would not be out of place on a lady lounging on a beach sipping a margarita or behind a desk in a corporate office building.

Start with a flat base to sew in 12 inch naturally curly extensions. Make sure to leave out a 1 and half inch section at the top to make a center part and a half inch section at your hairline.

Stick with 2 packs of hair for this style as you don’t want a great deal of volume. Once you have sewn the hair in, you will want the curls to be pretty defined. You can spritz the hair slightly with water then use a bit of curling mousse to hold the curls in place and then allow to dry. Don’t comb or brush the hair to avoid frizz!

Flat iron your leave out hair to silky straight then use a 1 inch barrel curling iron to curl sections of your hair to match the weave. Arrange the leave out hair to cover the wefts of the weave and you are all set to dazzle with your new curly hairstyle!

Updo’s look wonderful with curly hair and if you are using naturally curly extensions, very little styling will be involved. With this style you need very little volume because you will be doing a partial weave. If your hair is already a similar texture to the curly extensions, just use clip ins to add length. Otherwise if you want to sew in hair, you will be leaving quite a bit of hair out so be prepared!

Leave out a half inch of hair all around the perimeter of your head and also leave out an inch section at the top for either a side or centre part. Braid the rest of your hair down and sew in 16-18 inch extensions over the cornrows. You don’t want a great deal of volume with this style so stick with one and a half to two packs of hair only.

Once you are done sewing use some styling mousse to both define and hold the curls. Flat iron your leave out hair and use a 1 inch barrel iron to curl your leave out to match the extensions.

Hold all your hair up using a hair elastic, don’t tie it too tight and using bobby pins pin up some tendrils of hair to hide the elastic band. Loosen some hair at the front of your head to give you a nice profile, you can even let a few tendrils fall to frame your face. A lovely hairstyle for those warm summer months!
