Braided Wedding Hairstyle – Elegant Updo

January 28, 2014

Braided Wedding Hairstyle - Elegant UpdoNot everyone wants a complicated and elaborate updo for their wedding. Be it for modesty’s sake or for the sake of saving prescious time on your big day, some women prefer the idea of a simple elegant updo to their more complex counterparts.

A simple style doesn’t have to be boring, on the contrary, simplicity itself serves to bring out your facial features more by drawing the eye to your face without hair causing a distraction. In fact, people are more likely to remember how radiant and beautiful you looked with a simple accesorized hairstyle rather than having them remember your huge bun with flowers and pearls, not to forget the tiara!

This style would be perfect as a wedding style for a fresh faced bride or as a matching style for all the bridesmaids. It takes literally minutes to achieve and the effect is simply stunning!

It would work best on long straight hair of 18 inches and over so if your hair is not quite that long, you will need to install some hair extensions first. Install your weave as a partial and leave some hair out both at the front/sides and around your perimeter to hide any tracks.

Here’s how to create this updo:

  1. Once you have installed the extensions, apply some heat protectant and flat iron your leave out hair to match them.
  2. Decide if you will be leaving any hair out at the front and section it away from the rest or else brush all your hair back.
  3. Grab a large section of hair on the right side of your head, about 2/3 of your hair and tie the rest away with a ponytail holder.
  4. Divide this section into 3 and add a green piece of string to one of the sections, the string will look like an flower’s stem intertwined with your own hair. Begin braiding the hair.
  5. Once you are halfway down the braid, tie the green string around the hair to add interest then continue braiding down the rest of the hair. Secure the end with a rubber band or mini ponytail holder. Pin this braid out of the way.
  6. Grab the rest of your hair as if you will be tying a low poytail at the nape of your neck and braid it all the way down the entire length. Again, secure the end with a rubber band.
  7. Take the first braid you created and lay it down across the back of your head securing the braid down with bobby pins as you go. Insert the bobby pins on the underside of the braid so that they are not visible from the top. Lay the rest of the braid down going in the opposite direction that the braid started, again securing with bobby pins as you go. If there is any left over hair after this, just tuck it in under the braid and secure.
  8. Repeat this with the second braid so that you are left with what looks like four rows of braids going across the back of your head.
  9. If you sectioned hair at the front beforehand, release it and style it to your liking.
  10. To complete the look add a couple of fresh daisies to the braids.
