Going to college is one the most exciting, challenging, craziest times in your life and sometimes deciding what to do with your hair is low on the priority list but still a priority none the less. As a college student maybe wearing a weave might seem like a big ‘to do’ but it might be a great option when trying to protect your hair and still look stylish at the same time. Here are 4 reasons you should choose a weave style for your college semesters.

1.)    Access to a stylist might be very limited on campus: While on campus many college girls opt to do each other’s hair which can lead to either a complete disaster that is irreversible or a failed hair styles that you are forced to wear to your first class early the next day. Wearing a weave will give you a level of predictability that will put your mind at ease as long as your cover it at night and protect it during the day.

2.)    Weaves can help with first semester transitions: If you have been a college student for awhile you know how crazy the first semester can be while getting acclimated to your new environment. From knowing where your different classes are held, to new teachers, to new concepts such as Federal student aid can all get so hectic and challenging, that thinking about your hair will only add more drama to an already confusing ordeal. If you wear a style that allows you to ignore your hair for awhile while focusing on all the other things being thrown at you it could help with transitioning to your new life. Tip: Get braids or twists that allow for the least manipulation possible, literally get up and go styles!

3.)    Access to hair products is limited: have you ever heard the term ‘poor college student’? Well it is a real phenomenon, who has the money to purchase ‘expensive’ products to make sure their hair is well maintained and protected during the semester? Not to mention space is limited in the dorm rooms, where would you keep all your hair stuff? With weave styles you literally can get away with 3 products max! Without a problem. The hair is resilient and can be maintained with simple products that do not break the bank or take up too much book space. Tip: Get advice from your stylist on the best and simplest products you will need to take with you to college to maintain your hair while in the weave style. Stock up at home so that when you come to visit you can grab a bottle or have your parents ship you

4.)    College activities often call for low maintenance styles: If you play soccer, run track or party hard into the night wearing a low maintenance style that can withstand sweat may be the best option for you. As a college student you want to enjoy all aspects of your college life and hair should not be a deterrent. Prepare for these activities by wearing a weave that is easy for you to maintain and can take the rigorousness of a Frat party or a swimming pool. Additionally you will always look great no matter what because your style will always be predictable, you would only have to change your outfit, your accessories and of course your shoes!

What are some of your experiences good or bad with wearing a weave while in college?
