Lets face it, getting sweaty while getting your heart rate up comes with the territory, and health is always a priority over hair in any circumstance. Many believe that going to the gym or doing something active will lead to messy hair but here are a few classic styles you can try to keep your hair looking cute while you hit the pavement or those weights.

Classic Ponytails:

Ponytails are timeless they look great even when you are not trying and are a perfect addition to any active routine. A high pony keeps the hair off your neck and keeps you cool while you work out. Gather your hair in a sleek pony tail keeping the hair out of your face while you try to concentrate on those last few seconds of holding that plank position. Use hair clips and pins to glam up your ponytail even create a sort of pompadour in the front that looks mighty chic and can add some creativity to your ponytail. If you are attending zumba class and its eighties night, you might want to go for the double ponytails and a head band! You won’t look weird, everybody is doing it and your hair will motivate you to shake that thang!

2. Classic Buns

Another classic! The old trusty bun can be wonderful while working out. It keeps all the hair together and looks great when you have longer extensions where your bun can look full and big! To achieve a classic bun you can gather your hair into a pony tail and twist the ponytail until it forms a bun wrapping it around your ponytail holder and pinning for security. Another neat trick is to use a sock bun and gather the hair around the accessory so that the final look appears to be a donut. Buns can be very convenient and creates great waves once your hair is dry and you release the hair after a long workout and you want to catch a quick dinner.

3. Classic French Braid

Admittedly most of us probably do not know how to french braid, but now is the time to learn. Honestly the French braid is easy and once you get the technique down it can be a life saver at the gym. For layered looks where some of the hair may be shorter than others just use hair pins to keep the hair back and out of the face.

Keeping your goals of being active and maintaining an active lifestyle should have no compromises. Hair of all things should not be a factor in your decision to continue or not. Finding creative ways of maintaining a cute chic look is not hard sometimes an old classic style can save the day.

How do you where your hair typically at the gym or when out for a run?
