Celeb Style: Michelle Pfieffer Beautiful Beach Waves

April 12, 2013

Michelle Pfieffer beach waves easy hairstyleMichelle Pfieffer is a beautiful talented actress. She was huge in the 80’s and 90’s so when I think of her I tend to picture those huge 1980’s hairstyles a la Whitney Houston and other women at the time . She has obviously moved on with the times and has gone from silky straight to sexy razor cut bobs to ultra wavy.

Beach waves however seem to be her go to hairstyle, probably because these curls are closest to her natural hair texture. As the name suggests, beach waves are a wonderful casual hairstyle for hot lazy summer days. They can of course be formalized by wearing the hair up but for some serious fliry locks, wear the hair down, maybe with a flower clip or two applied for good measure.

In this picture Michelle has a carefully coiffed hairdo that looks deceptively thrown together and unintentional. Her highlights also enhance the appeal of the do with a view at an outdoorsy lifestyle.

Beach waves are easy to achieve and very healthy for your hair and hair extensions too because they are completely heat free. Even if you don’t know much about hair, you can definitely create and rock this style. Here’s how:

  1. As always start with freshly washed and conditioned hair. You are best of starting this process in the evening to allow your curls to fully set overnight.
  2. Blow dry or air dry the hair extensions and your own hair. If you have any leave out hair, flat iron it to match the texture of the extensions.
  3. Part your hair down the middle dividing it into two and tie one section out of the way.
  4. Apply a bit of styling mousse or curling pomade over the section of hair and comb through to evenly distribute.
  5. Start braiding your hair starting from the front working your way towards the back French braid style. Don’t start the braid too close to the roots at the front to avoid too much volume there.
  6. Make sure to braid all the way down to the very ends of the hair, you wouldn’t want to have curly hair with dead straight ends! Secure the end of the braid with a hair elastic.
  7. Repeat the braid with the other section of hair and secure it.
  8. Cover your hair with a satin bonnet or sleep on a satin pillowcase overnight.
  9. In the morning, release the braids and separate the curls with your fingers. Don’t use a comb, finger style only until you are satisfied with the look. You will find that with this style, the roots will remain pretty straight with the rest of the hair having very even curls.
  10. For even less root volume try doing just one French braid all the way down your head or alternatively you can flat iron your roots to reduce the top volume while keeping the ends curly and carefree.
  11. You can save this style by tying the hair into a low ponytail overnight. You can even rebraid the end of the ponytail for a different curls the following day.

Now all you have to do is slip on some sandals, add some killer accessories and you are ready to go outside and enjoy the glorious summer weather!
