4 Tips to Prevent Hair Loss

July 22, 2014

Medications, lack of hair care, iron or protein, and stress are just some of the factors that could result in thinning of the hair. Not to mention chemical-laden cosmetics, hair straightening products, hot curlers, and hair dryers that cause brittle, dry, and thinning hair. Although little can be done to reverse natural balding, there are quite a few steps to take to protect hair from damage that could lead to hair loss. Below are some tips to help you prevent this nasty condition.

1. Choose your products wisely

Always use a shampoo designed specifically for your hair type. Also, when you curl the hair, prefer sponge rollers that cause significantly less damage to the hair. Finally, a natural-bristle brush is much better than anything else synthetic that will most likely tear your hair. Just make sure it’s not too stiff.

Brushing Tip: Besides using the right products (and correctly), proper brushing is extremely important. Apply full strokes starting from the scalp and working your way to the tips (preferably when the hair is wet). This will allow the hair’s natural oil to be distributed evenly to the hair.

2. Go Natural

Without a doubt, going natural is the best way to go. Now, if you can’t stand your hair’s natural color and texture, you can try Indian virgin Remy hair extensions (is it by chance that all celebs use extensions?) that will give you the desired look, color, and texture without putting your own hair under too much stress. However, special care should also be provided to your extensions, so that they never let you down!

And, since every expert will tell you that you need to give our hair time to recover between chemical treatments and blowouts, again virgin hair extensions will save your day as you would only need to style the extensions the most trendy hairstyles this season (i.e. high ponytail, messy bun, braid, etc.).

3. Hot Oil Treatments

Hot oil treatments will benefit not only your natural hair but also your Indian hair extensions. Take any natural oil you like (i.e. coconut, olive oil, canola) and heat it up. We need it warm, not boiling hot! Massage into the scalp with gentle movements and then put on a shower cap or towel. Leave for an hour or so and shampoo the hair. Repeat every other week.

You can do this with your Remy hair extensions 1-2 times a month (depending on the use) and bring their shine and gloss back in an instance! If you have colored virgin Indian hair extensions, here are some hacks to help you maintain their gorgeous hues!

Alternatives:

In India, women also rub their scalp with natural juices (i.e. from ginger, onion or garlic) and leave it overnight before they wash it with warm water the next morning. They say it makes their hair look and feel healthier due to the nutrients contained in the juices.

Another thing you can also do is apply green tea on the scalp. Brew 2 teabags in a cup of water and leave on the scalp for an hour. Rinse. The antioxidants contained in green tea will boost hair growth and prevent hair loss.

4. Stimulate Circulation

Getting a head massage is a very effective method to stimulate circulation. Just a few minutes a day will help keep hair follicles active and prevent thinning. To improve circulation, you may also massage your scalp with a few drops of bay or lavender essential oil in a sesame or almond oil base.
