Updos can also work well for professional business meetings or networking events. There are so many updo styles to choose from but one of the classics is the beehive hairstyle!

The beehive is a hairstyle that was popular in the 60s, yet it has come around full-circle and become a modern trend. Although the beehive is not necessarily difficult to create, it cannot be done with all types of hair. It takes lengthy hair to create a beehive. So, if you have short hair, hair extensions can give you the length that you desire. In a few simple steps, you can turn your natural or synthetic extensions into a classy, popular style that is sure to catch the attention of everyone you meet.

Steps to Achieving the Beehive Hairdo for Those With Long Hair Extensions

Step One: In order to create the beehive hairstyle, you must first prepare your hair by drying and curling it, that is if your hair is not already curly. You can also choose to alter the size of your curls with the appropriate sized curling iron or a set on hot rollers in your desired curl size.

Step Two: Use hairspray to add volume to your roots. Gently soften the curls by running your fingers through your hair. Using a comb may flatten or tangle your curls, so it is advisable to simply use your fingers.

Step Three: Clip the front section of your hair (the parts near your forehead) to keep it out of the way. Then, use a comb to lift sections of the hair on the back of your head up to the top. Be careful to not ruin the curls with the comb; only use it from your roots to about halfway down the length of your hair. Pin the hair in place with intersecting bobby pins. Repeat this step with the other sections of hair (aside from the portion you have clipped in the front). Use hairspray to hold it in place. Use bobby pins that match your hair color so that they are not noticeable in the finished look.

Step Four: Once the hair is secured, use your fingers to style the curls in a way that will add volume at the top. You may need to weave them into one another to achieve your desired look. Once this is completed, repeat step three with the section of hair you have clipped at the front.

After you are finished, use plenty of hairspray to “freeze” the style in place. With just a few tools, you should be able to create a beehive hairstyle that is both unique and trendy! Remember, take your time and carefully try to mimic the style you are after. A great tip is to find a picture of your perfect beehive hairdo and have that picture available to guide you as you style your hair. Think of it as your little mentor and stylist in one!

By taking your time you will inevitably achieve the beehive style you’ve always dreamed of wearing!
