Your Own Hair Or Weave – Which One Does Your Man Prefer?

September 15, 2016

Young woman with very long straight hair extensionsBiologically men are programmed to be attracted to signs of femininity and fertiliy. Among other things long hair is undoubtedly a sign of good fertility. It is all linked to diet. You see hair and nails will usually be the last areas of our body to get nutrition and as such they are the first areas where deficiencies would be evident.

Bad hair equals bad diet which equals poor fertility while long thick lustrous hair and nails are a sign that you are getting good overall nutrition. It stands to reason that men would pick up on that without knowing that they are doing it!

In practice though many women or all races wear hair extensions these days so men can find it difficult to acsertain if what is on your head is your own or out of a packet. The question is, do they care?

If the informatin we get from social network polls is to be believed opnion is divided. There are some men who believe that women should wear their own hair all of the time, there are some who don’t mind weaves or extensions as long as they look good and there are those who don’t really care one way or another (typical!).

As with most things in life, there are pros and cons to wearing hair extensions so here we will look at a few of each.

Pros

  • You get instant long lengths that it would take your own hair years to reach. With full weaves, you can also experiment with shorter haircuts without actually committing to chopping your own locks off. A great idea if you are just not sure about a haircut.
  • Extensions can be undetectable. You can walk around with 26 inch extensions but if your install is good enough, nobody will bat an eyelid because it will look like all your own.
  • You can protect your own hair while looking great. Lets face it, not everybody likes the look of braids, buns, ponytails or other ‘protective styles’. Sometimes we just want to wear our hair down. But if you are looking to protect your own hair from daily manipulation and damage, a weave is a great way to do so. You can look great while your own hair grows uninterrupted underneath the weave.
Cons
  • You will have to find a way to deal with the ‘Is that your hair’ conversation. You can either go with the ‘Yes’ answer because of course it’s yours, you paid for it right? Or you can go with ‘No’ then stand there explaining how you managed to get it looking so natural. Not to mention that everyone will now know that it isn’t your hair.
  • Regardless how undetectable a weave is to the eye, the hands don’t lie! When your man tries to run his fingers through your new silky locks, the tracks are a dead give away and for some men, that just might be the deal-breaker.
  • Pressure to always be wearing a weave. If you meet and get to know a guy while you are wearing a weave, it can be awkward to then go back to wearing your own hair afterwards. Even if your own hair is long, most of us tend to exaggerate our volume when wearing extensions, a difference that would be decidedly noticeable on removal.
In truth, men love long hair and although they would prefer for you length to be all your own, most generally don’t mind or don’t care if you wear extensions too!
