What to Eat for Healthier & Longer Hair!

November 12, 2016

Nobody can argue that what we put into our body shows on our skin, hair, and overall health. That said, here are some foods that are proven to make our hair shinier, longer, beautiful, and radiating health.

1. Avocados

The epitome of healthy foods. It is unbelievable how a round green shell can keep so much nutrition and health benefits locked inside it. They contain healthy (unsaturated) fats and omega-9 fatty acids that play a leading role in our emotional health and cognitive function. Studies have also shown that avocados help control blood sugar levels, too. Of course, they also come packed full with vitamins A, D, and E; all of which help keep our hair happy. The next best thing is their oil that can be applied directly to the hair and stimulate the production of elastin and collagen; both very valuable to the hair. Needless to say, you can use avocado oil on your Remy hair extensions and give them the shine and TLC they deserve.

2. Sweet Potatoes

Much has been discussed lately about the extraordinary benefits of sweet potatoes. Loaded with antioxidant B-Carotene, which our bodies convert into vitamin A, it is a valuable assistant to control blood sugar and high pressure, as well for anti-aging, good eyesight maintenance, and, of course, great hair. Consuming sweet potatoes help protect against sun damage and encourage glowing skin, healthy hair, and collagen growth.

3. Pumpkin Seeds

Despite their small size, pumpkin seeds are packed with iron, which is very important to the overall health of the hair. In fact, many people suffering hair loss issues have a lack of iron in their bodies. On to of that, pumpkin seeds are very high in omega-e fatty acids, vitamins A, E, and K, and zinc. Studies have revealed that vitamin E enhances the blood flow to the scalp and helps our hair grow faster. The exact same benefits can be taken from sunflower seeds, too.

4. Green Leafy Veggies

Not much loved by the majority of people, adults and kids alike, green leafy vegetables are excellent sources of iron, vitamin A & C, folate, and B-Carotene that help us battle brittle hair. So, maybe we need to start eating spinach, broccoli, chard, arugula, swiss and all other greens if we want long, luscious locks!

5. Hazelnut Butter

How would you like your smoothie to become super rich in biotin? Hazelnut butter is a great source of Biotin, which is big news considering that B7 vitamins are behind our good or bad digestion and also promote hair growth. Another way to add it to your diet is as a pancake spread, but the sky is really the limit here. From cookies to cakes and everything in between, there are hundreds of hazelnut butter recipes you could try.

Tip: Besides contributing to hair growth, these foods also help achieve a more youthful-looking skin and strong nails.
