Best Haircuts for Women with Square-Shaped Faces

May 18, 2016

If you have a strong, angular jawline, consider yourself lucky. A square face is admittedly a face that takes the best photos (see Megan Fox). In short, you can get away with long hair and look totally amazing with the length, unlike women with long faces. Below, you will find some of the best haircuts for square faces, useful tips to hide the sharp edges of your jaw, as well as haircuts to avoid!

1. Play up your cheekbones

Flat-iron your long locks and part the hair in the middle. The curtain effect of your hair will definitely work its magic on you and give you a modern look. Just ensure to cut your hair a few long layers that will make it friskier and allow more movement.

Generally, speaking, long cuts that end just below the collarbone are far more flattering than longer than breast-length cuts. However, if you do like really long hair, you can try a long bob (layered and soft, not blunt and sharp) and see how it works out for you. Chin-length bobs should be avoided, no matter what, unless you want to accentuate your jaw.

Notes:

Don’t have the length you’d want to create the perfect look? Nothing to worry about. Add Remy hair extensions that you can style and color as you please and show off the diva you really are! 2. Bangs & Waves

Bangs are great for all face shapes. However, there is a different king of bang for each shape. For square-shaped faces, brow-grazing side-swept bangs, as well as thick, blunt bangs that are longer on the sides are both good options.

Waves also give a helping hand when you want to soften the strong jawline. Just remember to add a bit of softness to the front as well with a few long layers.

3. Shoulder-length Cuts

Admittedly, these cuts look very flattering on all face shapes but are a tad more flattering on women with an angular jawline. Again, a middle part and some light waves will help soften the face.

4. Parts & Layers

The middle part is perfect for you and gives you an incredibly youthful appearance while elongating your face, which is something you want if you have a square shaped face. Avoid the side part as it will appear your face to be rounder.

As for long layers that begin at the jawline, they totally complement your face, especially if matched with side-swept bangs.

Haircuts NOT to try

1. Ponytail

If you pull all the hair back, it’ll make the squareness of your face more distinct. A severe ponytail is not how you want to style your hair in this case and the same goes to buns that also highlight your strong jawline.

2. One-length bobs & Blunt bangs

One-length bobs and blunt-cut bangs that hot at the chin are harsh on square faces. Prefer sideswept bangs and longer bobs instead.

Final Tips:

1. For women with curly hair, try not to wear them above the jawline. When too short, curly hair tends to frizz up while when too long it weight down the curls. Ask your stylist for choppy ends, too!

2. Pixie cuts are astonishing on women with small features and a petite figure. But, for ladies with a square-shaped face these cuts make them appear too harsh.
