Best Haircuts for Women with Heart-Shaped Faces

March 5, 2011

In a nutshell, heart-shaped faces look absolutely stunning with long, side-swept bangs! So, feel free to wear long waves or shoulder-length bobs with side-swept bangs and look fantastic. This is because heart-shaped faces are wider up top (wider forehead) and the bangs help balance out the face and draw attention away from the top and towards the eyes. Just make sure the shortest pieces of your bang hit the eyebrows while the longest ones your eyes’ outer corners. A bang too short will create the exact opposite effect so beware. Finally, always but bangs when your hair is dry to avoid shrinkage. The secret is to emphasize the eyes and cheekbones. Get that right and you will look like a sexy celeb!

That aside, what else can you do with your hair if you have a beautiful heart-shaped face? Below are some ideas to draw inspiration from!

1. Pixie Hairstyles

The simplest haircut ever as long as you are prepared to have trims every 5 weeks or so. However, if not cut properly, a pixie cut can make a square face look even squarer and elongate a long face. So choose your stylist carefully. Did we mention that this cut is perfect for women with straight or wavy hair, too? For those with curly and kinky hair, it’s best to try something else, though.

2. Bobs

There couldn’t be any cut more flattering for heart-shaped faces than a bob. A graduated bob with a hint of wave is a very good idea. As for the ladies with a pointed chin (see Jennifer Aniston and Katie Holmes), a bob heavy at the chin will be just perfect. Waves can also help soften a pointy chin. Speaking of chins, chin-length bobs with slightly tapered ends look fab on your face as well.

In general, bobs and shoulder-length hairstyles look great on heart-shaped faces provided you pick the right cut.

3. Curls

Girls with curly hair can have it tapered on the ends to cut out most of the heaviness in their hair (ask your stylist to cut your hair when dry). Shampooing also weighs down curly hair so try to cut down on it as much as possible. Instead of using too much shampoo, moisturize your locks with a heavy conditioner in the shower. Keep down flyaways and frizz with a styling gel and stay away from harsh-choppy layers or blunt-cut bangs (see Jennifer Garner).

4. Add Interest

Keeping the top layers long and soft is an excellent idea for short hair (see Katie Holmes). To make your hair more playful and fun, you can add in highlights in any of the hues you like (or check the 2016 hair color trends), whether you have long, thick hair or not. Give it dimension and volume with Remy hair extensions or choose colored Indian virgin hair to blend with y our own hair to skip the troubles and potential damage from the chemical procedures to your hair.

5. Waves

Let your wavy hair airdry and don’t forget to scrunch it as it dries. Then wind around a curling iron’s barrel and give extra volume. Or, you can do the same with Remy hair extensions and clip them on your hair instead.

Avoid top-heavy, slicked-back styles or bobs that fall above the jawline. Styles that give fullness at the sides of the head, as well as brow-grazing fringes, are okay. Finally, for the ladies with long hair, cheekbone-grazing long layers will create a wonderful result.
