How To Get Kim Kardashian’s Signature Waves

June 17, 2018

Kim Kardashian signature wavy style Kim Kardashain is undeniably one of the biggest style icons of the last few years. Love her or hate her, she’s always on our screens, newspapers & magazines so she stands head and shoulders above many other celebrities for trendsetting.

On matters of hair, I haven’t seen Kim K play too much with hair color. No doubt her jet black tresses compliment her olive skin tone but it would be nice to see her experiment with color a bit more. Nothing very dramatic, maybe just some deep auburn or medium brown tones to add interest.

Her signature style is a center or side part with large waves in her silky smooth tresses. She’s got a lovely oval shaped face so most styles would suit her but she doesn’t stray far from her signature look in terms of length although she occasionally wears it in an updo or ponytail.

There is no need to risk damage to your own hair when you want to experiment with color. You can opt for some colored clip ins applied strategically for a peek-a-boo effect. Simple, stylish and non-permanent!

Here’s how to get a Kim Kardashian inspired hairstyle:

Hair needed: 2 packs 16-18 inches Virgin Indian Straight extensions in black. You can purchase pre-colored jet black extensions too.

1. Start with a freshly washed and deep conditioned hair. If you are natural blow it out too for ease of braiding.

2. Leave out your horseshoe section. About an inch and a half for a center part and half an inch or less around your hairline.

3. Braid your hair in cornrows to get a good flat base. It’s best to braid your cornrows going straight back because this is the flattest braiding pattern.

4. Sew in your extensions starting from the nape. Apply the extensions evenly throughout. Don’t get too much volume at the top for this style as it should be pretty flat.

5. Apply heat protectant to your leave out hair and flat iron smooth to blend in with your extensions.

6. Cut in some layers keeping the layers pretty long. You can get a stylist to do this part for you if you are not confident with scissors.

7. Brush out the extensions to ensure that there are no tangles and heat up a large barrel curler. Grabbing large sections of your hair, create some loose waves changing the direction of the curls periodically.

8. Spray your leave out lightly with some oil sheen and spary the extensions with light hold hairspray.

You can save this style by dividing your hair into two pigtails and securing each side with a hair elastic. Twist each ponytail around the base to create a tight bun and secure the bun with another hair elastic. Cover your hair with a satin bonnet to sleep. In the morning release the ponytails and your waves will be lovely and defined for another day of fabulousness!

There are numerous youtube tutorials of the above steps to get Kim K’s hairdo. Watch this one here on how to achieve the curls with a barrel iron. You can also get the curls heat free with flexi rods or use the pin curl technique.
