Britney Spears has had ups and downs in her career and personal life. While many people tend to remember the disasters more so than the successes, she is still and probably always will be an A list celebrity.
We all remember the hair shaving incident and the visible fusion hair extension drama that followed but it shouldn’t be difficult to remember that Britney also has had a head full of shiny golden locks in the past.
In this look she is wearing her hair medium long with beach wave curls. The curls are very even and her hair is glowing with health and shine.
In spite of how easy it looks to achieve the style, it does take a while because it requires the use of a waving iron also known as a triple barrel curling iron. You can also get another version of this style without the use of heat! Here’s how:
Hair needed: 16-18 inch straight Indian remy hair extensions in the color of your choice. You could also opt for body wave extensions but they will give you a much bigger curl than the ones pictured.
Method 1 – With Heat
- Install the extensions beginning at the back, if you opted for a layered look, install the longer ones at the bottom and the shorter ones at the top. Leave out a bit of hair at the top/sides for blending and covering the tracks.
- Apply some heat protectant to the leave out hair then flat iron to match the extensions.
- Heat up a waving iron and apply some heat protectant to the hair extensions. Brush to evenly distribute.
- Grab a section of hair, about 2 inches starting at the back. Clip the rest of the hair out of the way. Beginning near the roots wave the hair by placing the iron on the section for a couple of seconds then moving it down the length of that hair until perfect waves are formed.
- Repeat this with the rest of your hair then use some hairspray to hold the curls in place.
Method 2 – Heatless curls
- After installing the extensions and flat ironing the leave out to match you will need to part your hair into 5 sections for cornrows. You will be making the cornrows going down in the direction that you want them to fall.
- Braid the hair in the cornrows, being pretty firm with the braiding for the best curl definition, apply some styling mousse over each section before braiding to help with setting the curls.
- Secure the ends of the braids with a rubber band.
- Cover your cornrows with a satin bonnet or sleep on a satin pillowcase overnight.
- In the morning, unravel the cornrows and fluff your hair to style. Do not separate the curls too much as you may create frizz.
These curls will not keep very well overnight unfortunately. You will lose some of the definition but you will still have lovely wavy hair the next day. You can style this in a half up half down look or a wavy ponytail. You can also wrap the hair in a loose wavy bun and accessorize with flower clips for an evening out!
